This test judges how many times a website has been mentioned on Twitter.
Social media is becoming increasingly important on the web. We look at how well shared the website is on Twitter as a measure of popularity and the success your site's online marketing.
We look at the volume of Tweets your website has received (we collect this from Topsy's Otter API). The more Tweets the higher you score. If there is a sufficient number of tweets relating to your site, we also analyse them to see if people are talking positively or negatively about your site. This is useful information is known as sentiment analysys, but we don't use it to calculate the score.
If you don't already have a Twitter account, consider getting one. Each time you update your site, Tweet about it. If your updates and content are interesting, people will pick up on it and retweet. This is a very quick way to get links to your site and increase visitor numbers. If your website is article oriented (e.g. blog, news) , you could also add social media buttons to your page to make it easier for people to Tweet your content.
